Boarded up store in Soho New York during pandemic in 2020

Tuesday, April 14th, 2020

Morning news reports say that you can get Covid-19 a second time.

Eye contact has continued at the old “normal” level – it is again possible to find a momentary connection with a stranger.

Twenty-two thousand Americans have died of Covid — more than in any other country. I do not understand why those figures are never adjusted to per capita.

The number of calls to 911 in New York City continues at record levels.

Massachusetts is investing heavily in contact tracing.

Chicago has released 2,000 prisoners since early February in response to the pandemic.

No one has any idea of what will help.

China, like the US, reports that 1 in every 3 negative Covid are wrong, likely one the reasons the virus continues to spread.

There are an estimated 2 million cases of Covid worldwide — 30% of them are in the United States. Just over 4% of the world’s population lives in the US.

The average price of gasoline is well under $2.00 per gallon. The oil industry says they are “hemorrhaging.” I find it easier to feel sorry for some industries more than others.
