Perimeter is an exploration of the outermost edge of Manhattan Island – discovery and urban history.

A bicentennial era project pulling things into a gallery from the outside and blocking what was to be seen.

The by-product of a Smith Corona idea stealing machine (1981-83). The approx. 113-foot long scroll of typed text, in triplicate, was read in a 1983 performance. In 1988 the text was sent as the first weekly serial mailing in the form of a double-sided 17″ paper.
